Dua Lipa Evacuates Los Angeles Amid "Devastating and Scary" Wildfires
"I'm safe and made it out of the city."
Dua Lipa is the latest in a string of celebrities who have announced their evacuation from L.A. amid the devastating wildfires that have torn through the city since early Tuesday. As it stands, there are currently several major fires burning—the Palisades Fire, the Eaton Fire, the Hurst Fire, the Lidia Fire, the Kenneth Fire, and the Sunset Fire—which have destroyed approximately 36,000 acres in total. With roughly 180,000 residents under evacuation orders and thousands more essentially waiting in the wings, Dua Lipa is just one of many Angelenos who has been forced to flee the area.
Taking to Instagram on Thursday, January 9, the singer posted a video to let her family, friends, and fans know that she was safe.
"Absolutely devastating and scary couple days in L.A.," she wrote. "Thinking of all my friends and the people of the city who had to evacuate their homes."
She continued, "I'm safe and made it out of the city. Sending my love to everyone going through this incredibly difficult time. Stay safe and take care of each other."
Lipa then used her platform to share links for how to help evacuees, including shelter information and restaurants in the area offering free meals.
Lipa's message comes on the heels of Instagram posts from fellow celebrities Paris Hilton and Mandy Moore, both of whose houses were impacted by wildfires this week. Chrissy Teigen and John Legend are also amongst the evacuees, and meanwhile, Jamie Lee Curtis recently announced that she would donate $1 million to help with wildfire relief efforts.
"This house wasn’t just a place to live—it was where we dreamed, laughed, and created the most beautiful memories as a family," Hilton wrote on Instagram. "It was where Phoenix’s little hands made art that I’ll cherish forever, where love and life filled every corner. To see it reduced to ashes…it’s devastating beyond words."
