$790,000 of drugs seized including 4.5kg of cannabis in fire extinguisher, 5 arrested
SINGAPORE — Five suspected drug offenders were arrested by Central Narcotics Bureau (CNB) officers following two raids that led to a seizure of drugs with a street value of about $790,000.
During an operation at Rivervale Street on Monday (26 September), CNB officers arrested a 42-year-old Singaporean man after intercepting his vehicle.
Three hollowed out fire extinguishers, along with 6,069g of cannabis, 524g of ‘Ice’ and 124g of ‘Ecstasy’ tablets were recovered from the vehicle, CNB said in a media release on Wednesday. About 4,517g of cannabis was hidden in one of the fire extinguishers.
At the man’s residence in the area, a further 2,224g of cannabis, 20g of suspected cannabis seeds, 301g of ‘Ice’, 246g of ketamine, 1g of ‘Ecstasy’ tablets, 648 Erimin-5 tablets and 94 LSD stamps were seized.
In another operation conducted on Monday, CNB officers arrested a 33-year-old Singaporean man and a 42-year-old Singaporean man at Upper Serangoon View. The men were subdued after struggling to resist arrest.
About 12g of heroin was found on the 33-year-old man, while about 31g ‘Ice’ was recovered from the 42-year-old man.
A further seizure of about 2,002g of heroin, 1,312g of ‘Ice’, 66g of ‘Ecstasy’ tablets and various drug items were seized from the 42-year-old man’s residence in the same area. A 40-year-old female foreigner was also arrested.
About 12g of heroin, 4g of ‘Ice’ and various drug items were also seized from the 33-year-old man's residence at Yishun Ave 4. A 31-year-old female foreigner was also arrested.
A person who is convicted of trafficking more than 15g of pure heroin, 250g of methamphetamine, or “Ice”, or 500g of cannabis may face the mandatory death penalty.
