Driver's dash cam comes to rescue after conflicting accounts of crash

A motorist in Brisbane is thankful he installed a dash cam onto his vehicle after he was involved in a collision with another road user.

Footage of the crash was uploaded to Dash Cam Owners Australia’s Facebook page on Friday showing a black Nissan 4WD reversing into his car as both vehicles turned onto Mackie Street in Moorooka in February.

And while it was the black car which initiated the contact, the dash cam owner, identified only as Barry, claims the driver told the insurance company something else happened.

“He tried to tell the insurance that I went to overtake him further down the road despite me telling him three times that I had a dash cam,” he said.

The motorist duly sent in footage of the incident to rubbish the driver’s claim.

The Facebook post was inundated with hundreds of comments, many from motorists who had experienced similar circumstances with deceitful drivers.

Others hailed the man’s decision to purchase a camera for inside his car.

“If you didn’t have dash cam good luck explaining he reversed. Without the cam … car behind always in fault,” one user said.
