Driver Sentenced for Obstructing Ambulance on Reading Road
A 38-year-old Reading man was sentenced to eight months in prison this month for dangerous driving and obstructing an emergency vehicle, Thames Valley Police said.
Albert Butler pleaded guilty to dangerous driving and obstructing/hindering an emergency worker in Maidenhead on February 2, as seen in dashcam footage released by the NHS South Central Ambulance Service on Wednesday, November 9.
Police said Butler overtook the ambulance in Reading, pulled in front of it, and braked, “intentionally” slowing down the vehicle, which was responding to a medical emergency.
In addition to a custodial sentence, Butler was ordered to complete 20 rehabilitation activity requirement days, 200 hours of unpaid work over an 18-month period, was banned from driving for three years, and given costs of £600, the ambulance service said.
