Dramatic moment rubbish man rescues kidnapped girl

A garbage man has saved a little girl’s life after she was allegedly kidnapped.

An amber alert was issued for Jalisa Lasalle, 10, late on Sunday (local time) after she went missing from New Iberia in the state US state of Louisiana.

Residents were told to look out for a gray Nissan Altima believed to have been involved.

On Monday morning, Dion Merrick, who works for Pelican Waste & Debris, spotted the suspect’s car while on his garbage route and called the police.

He then used his garbage truck to block the road and stop Jalisa’s alleged captor from escaping.

In a video uploaded to Facebook, Mr Merrick explains how he saved the little girl after spotting “this gray car parked in the field”.

“That was the dude who had that little 10-year-old. I just saved that little girl's life,” he says.

"People act like they see stuff but they don't want to say nothing.

“But she's safe now. Thank God man, because I got a little girl. I'm on my job doing what I got to do.”

A police officer can be heard thanking him for helping bring Jalisa home safe.

A 33-year-old man was arrested and taken into custody charged with aggravated kidnapping.
