Dr. Phil Does Not Endorse Trump, Says He Spoke at a Trump Rally in ‘Act of Rebellion’ Against Kamala Harris for Allegedly Snubbing Him

Just a week after delivering a speech at Donald Trump’s Oct. 27 Madison Square Garden rally, Dr. Phil emphasized that he does not endorse Trump for president. Rather, his appearance at the event was “an act of rebellion” after Kamala Harris’ campaign allegedly rejected his offers to interview her.

“I requested 25-plus times to speak to Kamala Harris and never got so much as a yes, no, maybe,” the television personality, whose real name is Phil McGraw, said in a new interview with Piers Morgan.

“I offered to give the identical speech at a Harris rally,” McGraw said, adding that he offered to “cross out Trump’s name, write in Harris’ name.” (In his 17-minute speech, McGraw also railed against the media and cancel culture, and made the case for why Trump is not a “bully.”)

McGraw claimed that the morning after he spoke at Trump’s rally, a Harris campaign staffer reached out to him about the opportunity to speak at a Harris rally in Washington, D.C. McGraw said that he responded to the Harris campaign, “Absolutely, tell me when and where to be, and I will bring a transcript of the speech and give it at a Harris rally.”

“Never heard another word once they found out I was serious,” McGraw said.

McGraw said he did not speak at the Madison Square Garden rally “to endorse Donald Trump. I do not like celebrity endorsements.”

“I don’t back off of what I said [at Trump’s rally] one iota, not one word,” McGraw said, adding, “I would still go to a Harris rally and say exactly the same thing.”

When asked by Morgan whether he has decided who he is going to vote for, McGraw said, “I think I have, but I’ll never tell.”

“Whoever it is, we’re all Americans, and once that process runs its course and America picks a president … We have to get behind that person and support them,” McGraw said, adding, “You have to respect the office of the president.”

McGraw, a former psychologist who hosted the “Dr. Phil” talk show from 2002 to 2023, appeared at Trump’s New York rally and called the former president “tough as an old army boot.”

“I can be honest and say I don’t like or agree with everything that Donald J. Trump does or says,” McGraw said at the rally. “No human is perfect. We don’t strive for perfection. We strive for excellence. But you don’t have to love everything about someone in order to love them, and the last thing he needs is some celebrity endorsement.”

He went on to gripe about how celebrity endorsements are covered by the media. “I would love to say it’s equal on both sides, but I’ll guarantee you when Beyonce, George Clooney, De Niro and Rizzo come out and say they’re for Kamala Harris, did you read anything or hear anything in the media criticizing it?” McGraw said. “No, but you watch what happens tomorrow morning when people find out I came here to talk to you.”
