Dozens of teens caught up in wild schoolyard brawl

Dozens of students have been caught up in a wild schoolyard brawl at a secondary college in Melbourne’s northwest.

The violent scenes were captured on camera and show students from Staughton College in Melton South punching and kicking each other during their recess break.

The Snapchat footage showed the chaotic scenes that were reportedly initiated by a fight between two girls.

One mother told 3AW that at least one teacher had been injured trying to break up the fight that had involved as many as 80 students.

“I’m so upset for those teachers that had to go through that,” the concerned parent said.

Principal David Lord sent a text message out to parents confirming the altercation.

“I want to emphasise, that there is no place for incidents like this at our school,” the message read according to News Corp.

“It was disappointing to see and certainly does not reflect the behaviour of the overwhelming majority of our students.”

A spokesperson for Victoria Police said officers from Melton were called to the school at 11.30am on Tuesday morning.

“Police were advised of an incident that occurred earlier in the morning,” the spokesperson said.

“Police patrolled the area at 11.30am and then at 3.30pm.”

They said no offences were detected.
