Donald Trump’s son Eric Trump offered more details on the Republican presidential nominee’s ear injury following his assassination attempt over the weekend.

On Wednesday, July 17, Eric, 40, told CBS Mornings that his father, 78, didn’t have to get stitches after the shooting, which left him bleeding from the ear. Eric added that the former president "has a nice flesh wound," calling the injury "the greatest earache he's ever had."

The businessman added: "You know, he was millimeters away from having his life expunged ... I'm sure the ear doesn't feel well.”

In a Tuesday interview with CBS Evening News, Eric stated that Donald can still hear and is "in great spirits." He also spoke about the shooter avoiding a more lethal shot, saying, "I grew up competing in the shooting sports. I know that world very, very well, and a rifle shot at 130 yards is like a four-inch punt, right? You don't, you don't miss it if you're competent."

The younger Trump believes his father was lucky in the moment, adding, "I'm not an overly mushy person ... but, you know, somebody was watching down on him because it could have gone very, very differently."

Donald was injured on July 13 after 20-year-old gunman Thomas Matthew Crooks opened fire at a campaign rally in Butler, Pa., in what authorities have since described as an "assassination attempt."

The former president spoke to the New York Post about the "very surreal experience" the following day, during which he claimed, "The doctor at the hospital said he never saw anything like this, he called it a miracle."

He added, “I’m not supposed to be here, I’m supposed to be dead.”

Three bystanders were also struck during the shooting: Corey Comperatore, 50; David Dutch, 57; and James Copenhaver, 74. Comperatore was killed, while Dutch and Copenhaver were critically injured.

Detailing the events that occurred, Trump wrote on the social media platform Truth Social, "I was shot with a bullet that pierced the upper part of my right ear. I knew immediately that something was wrong in that I heard a whizzing sound, shots, and immediately felt the bullet ripping through the skin." (Investigators have not yet confirmed whether it was a bullet or shrapnel that injured him.)
