Dog thrown off NSW cliff, cops investigate

An emaciated dog has been put down after being thrown off a cliff inside a kennel near Wollongong.

A bushwalker heard a dog yelping near Clive Bissell Drive at Mount Ousley on Sunday morning before finding the upside-down kennel at the base of the cliff.

An injured Australian bulldog was found inside.

Police believe the kennel was thrown off the cliff.

The dog, which appeared to be emaciated and in poor health, was rescued and taken to a local vet but was later euthanised due to his condition and injuries.

The kennel will be forensically examined as police investigate the alleged act of animal cruelty.

Anyone who witnessed suspicious activity in the area or has dash cam footage after driving there on Sunday morning is being urged to contact local police or Crime Stoppers.
