Dog stays by little girl's side as she goes missing overnight
A missing three-year-old girl has been found safe after spending the night in a cornfield, with her faithful dog refusing to leave her side.
In fact, the tiny Yorkshire terrier played a role in her rescue.
The ordeal began around 8.30pm Thursday with a call to emergency services that Remy Elliot had wandered away from her home, near the rural Missouri town of Qulin, 280 kilometers south of St Louis.

Sgt Clark Parrott said a land and air search began that evening, but the girl was nowhere to be found.
Volunteers joined police to search a cornfield Friday morning. A breakthrough came just after 8am when search dogs heard the bark of a tiny dog, which led them to the missing toddler.
Searchers found the girl with her dog about 400m from home. The pup remained by Remy’s side throughout the night, comforting her from being lost, alone, and in darkness.
The child had several mosquito bites but was otherwise unharmed.
