Dog shot in horror armed gang attack
A dog has been shot during a confrontation on a northern NSW property involving six men allegedly carrying multiple weapons.
Just after 9pm on Thursday, police were called to a home in Coromandel Street in South Tamworth following reports shots had been fired.
Police allege six males – one armed with a machete and another with a firearm – arrived on the property and began arguing with a 48-year-old man.
One of the males allegedly fired a shot at the 48-year-old man’s dog, hitting it in the leg.
The group then fled the scene.
No other injuries were reported.
The dog was taken to a veterinary clinic for further treatment.
A crime scene was established and investigations are continuing into the circumstances surrounding the incident.
As inquiries continue, police urge any witnesses or anyone with dashcam vision to come forward.
