A dog has miraculously survived a terrifying home invasion after it was shot and a teenage girl threatened with a gun in Western Sydney on Sunday night.

Police received a report that the dog had been shot and were called to a home on Leigh Crescent in Claymore about 7pm.

Campbelltown City Police Area Command officers rushed to the home and found a dog with a gunshot wound to its shoulder.

Officers were also told that a woman, 19, who lived at the home, had been threatened with a gun by two men who fled the scene.

The dog was taken to a veterinary hospital for treatment and has survived the shooting.

Police have asked anyone with information to contact Crime Stoppers.
