Disneyland Visitors Issue Serious Warning After Allegedly Receiving 'Gross' Expired Treats

Disneyland guests who recently attended one of the park's Oogie Boogie Bash events for Halloween felt fearful for an unexpected reason as they allegedly found out that employees had handed out snacks that were past the date on the packaging, leading some to issue a warning online.

The conversation appeared to start when a visitor to the theme park shared a photo saying, "I got these at this year’s Oogie Boogie Bash. Are they using last year’s supply lol."

In the photo, a bag of Mickey Mouse Goldfish snacks was held up to the camera, with the best-by date set as Sept. 15, 2024. The photo was shared on Sept. 16.

Other guests seemed uneasy after seeing the photo, with replies like, "Wow I’m really gonna have to check all my bags now. That’s crazy," and "I never checked any dates and now with the amount of candy I have consumed…..😬."

Someone who went to last year's Halloween event claimed, "happens every year last year it was the Sunchips."

Other responses to the surprising allegation were, "Gross," "disgusting," and "Oh no! 🤯."

Another Disneyland visitor checked their treats and realized that their Goldfish snacks had a date of Aug. 15, 2024, writing, "I just checked and got something that expired over a month ago from Oogie Boogie Bash this past Thursday. Are they checking the treats being distributed…?"

While this led to more upset reactions from some, others defended Disneyland, pointing out that these are best-by dates, not expiration dates.

One fan explained, "That’s why they put Best By and not expired on most products now. More of a freshness date than a don’t eat date." Another said the same thing, but added, "regardless i'm not sure why they're giving stuff that's not fresh out."

According to the Food Safety and Inspection Service, "A 'Best if Used By/Before' date indicates when a product will be of best flavor or quality. It is not a purchase or safety date." An expiration or use-by date is "the last date recommended for the use of the product while at peak quality."

Disneyland has not publicly responded to the situation.
