It's reported that an emergency situation was declared after one adult and four lion cubs were found outside their enclosure. It wasn't long before the animals were safely returned to their enclosure with no staff or guests injured.
Taronga Zoo has since confirmed that an integrity issue with the containment fence enabled the lions to temporarily exit their main exhibit. The zoo also stated that a full review is ongoing and a full report will be prepared for the New South Wales Department of primary industries. So now you know.
