Man scores $1 million Lotto prize after winning numbers appeared in dream

A Tasmanian man who took out a $1 million Lotto prize said he chose the winning numbers after they appeared to him in a dream.

The hardworking 40-year-old East Devonport man has claimed the million-dollar prize from last week’s Wednesday Lotto draw, as the sole division one winner.

The thrilled millionaire said he had marked his entry using numbers that appeared to him in a dream more than a decade ago.

“I’ve been playing these numbers for 13 years. I dreamt them one night – they appeared in my dream.

“I woke up and wrote them down, and I’ve been playing them ever since,” he said.

“I thought one day I would see them all there. I hadn’t given up on them!”

The man, who purchased his winning entry at East Devonport Newsagency, said his dream numbers had won other prizes over the years, but last week’s draw resulted in the biggest prize so far.

“They’re certainly my lucky numbers so I’ll still keep playing them,” he told The Lott.

In addition to winning division one, the Tasmanian’s marked entry also won division two six times, division three six times, and division four 15 times, bolstering his total prize to $1,021,797.85.

Confirming his win with a Tatts official Monday morning - five days after Wednesday’s winning draw - the man said learning of his windfall left him stunned, so he needed time to “let it sink in a bit”.

“It took a bit to get over it!” he said.

The winner said he was yet to make any firm decisions on how to spend his winnings, and admitted he still turned up to work after learning of his fortune.
