Devastating church fire 'doesn't burn a single bible'

A fire which badly damaged a church somehow spared every bible and cross inside.

Coal City Fire Department was called to the blaze at Freedom Ministries Church in the US state of Virginia on Sunday about 12.58am.

“Though odds were against us, God was not,” the fire department wrote.

“Picture this, a building so hot that at one point in time, firefighters had to back out.”

Resident Jerry Wistling told news station WVNS the church was “totally engulfed in flames”.

“I mean, it was shooting 50 feet high (15 metres). It was hot,” he told the station.

But bizarrely, not a single bible was harmed in the fire according to the fire department.

The department shared photos of the damage with one picture showing more than 10 intact bibles.

All the crosses were also unscathed.

The pictures were shared more than 31,000 times with many believing it could be divine intervention.

“The devil will never win in the house of the lord,” one woman wrote.

Another woman added “the power of God is real”.

Other claimed they too have experienced disasters but their bibles remained intact.

“My bible made it out of the tornado when we had little else left. God is good,” one woman claimed.

One man claimed he had a bible laying on a coffee table in a room which was on fire.

But while the room, table and everything else was burnt the “bible and spot under it was untouched”, he claimed.

The fire department is still investigating what caused the fire.

Freedom Ministries wrote on Facebook on Monday the church will need to be rebuilt.
