Detective leading the search for William Tyrrell taken off case

The detective leading the hunt for missing boy William Tyrrell has been taken off the case for alleged misconduct.

It’s alleged Detective Chief Inspector Gary Jubelin has been interviewed by Professional Standards over conduct on Strike Force Rosann, which was set up to investigate the three-year-old’s disappearance.

He’s facing allegations relating to staff management and recording someone on his mobile phone without a warrant. Detective Chief Inspector Jubelin is yet to comment.

A NSW Police spokesman told Yahoo7 “an internal investigation is currently underway”.

“The acting state coroner and counsel assisting have been briefed and the William Tyrrell inquest will proceed as planned,” he said.

A Coroner’s hearing was told in December it’s not yet possible to conclude that William Tyrrell is dead, with police still pursuing active leads.

An inquest into the three-year-old’s disappearance will begin next month.

For the foster family at the centre at one of Australia’s greatest mysteries, the last four years have been a long road.

Wearing a Spiderman costume, William vanished from his grandmother’s yard at Kendall on the NSW Mid North Coast in September 2014.
