Desperate search for woman missing after fatal boat crash

A desperate search continues as police look for a woman who went missing after a deadly boat crash.

California woman Raegan Heitzig has been missing since 8pm on Saturday after a boat she was on crashed head-on with another vessel in the Colorado river in California.

A police search of the area has located the bodies of three other victims, Christine Lewis, 51, Brian Grabowski, 50 and Ms Heitzig’s friend Kirra Drury.

The tragic crash ejected all passengers and both vessels sank, according a Facebook statement from the Mohave County Sheriff’s Office. The crash involved a boat containing 10 people and another containing six people.

Both boats were travelling at 80 km/h and the passengers were not wearing life jackets, according to ABC News.

Following the crash, four people were missing while 10 were transported to hospital and others were pulled from the water by passing boaters.

Officials have not publicly identified Ms Heitzig, but according to People Magazine loved ones have released her identity in a bid to find her.

A GoFundMe page to support Ms Heitzig’s family has already raised $54,000.

We are asking for prayers and support for Raegan and the search efforts,” the page said.

The search paused on Tuesday night, but police divers will resume the search of the Colorado river on Wednesday morning.

“The Mohave County Sheriff’s Office will continue to patrol the Colorado River until all the unaccounted for passengers are located,” the Mohave County Sheriff’s Office said in a Facebook statement.
