Democrat lawmaker celebrates her wife in apparent rebuke to Mike Johnson’s anti-LGBT+ record
Watch the moment a democrat lawmaker celebrated her anniversary on the House floor, in an apparent dig at Mike Johnson during the vote for speaker.
Angie Craig wished her wife “a happy wedding anniversary" when her turn came to vote on whether to approve the Republican.
The remarks were seemingly a response to Johnson’s long-running anti-LGBTQ voting record in Congress.
The Democratic representative from Minnesota’s 2nd congressional district was the first openly LGBT+ mother in the House.
Later on Wednesday 25 October Mr Johnson was elected to the position, 22 days after the removal of Kevin McCarthy.
