TV presenter and businesswoman Deborah Hutton has opened up about a recent skin cancer scare online reminding her followers to ‘get your skin checked’.

The 58-year-old media personality shared a photo of her face to Instagram after having stitches removed from another major surgery to remove two skin cancers.

“Early detection is everything!! Don’t delay,” she captioned the image.

“To look at the area around my nose prior to surgery, nothing was visible to the naked eye. Only my dermatologist flagged it months earlier... So don’t stuff around with your health!”

It’s the second time in the last decade the star has gone undergone major surgery after experiencing another serious skin cancer scare back in 2011.

“I underwent major surgery to have an infiltrating basal cell carcinoma on my top lip removed,” she told Prevention magazine at the time.

“I’d ignored the spot for ages, thinking it was just a pimple, but when it became numb I finally got it checked out – and the diagnosis felt like it was a nightmare.”

Approximately, two in three Australians will be diagnosed with skin cancer by the time they are 70, according to the Cancer Council.

Non-melanoma skin cancer is more common in men, with almost double the incidence compared to women. Excluding non-melanoma skin cancer, melanoma is the third most common cancer in Australians.

“My skin will heal and in the coming months you’ll hardly see the scar,” Deborah added in her post.

“I’ve been here before nine years ago. Skin heals beautifully but only if you give it the chance before it’s too late.”
