'Two deaf boys and their adventures': Man to share experiences with puppy he taught to sign

A deaf man who gained attention worldwide after adopting his perfect companion has taken to social media to document their “adventures”.

Nick Abbott, 31, knew 12-week-old black lab mix Emerson was the ideal match when he saw him being advertised by foster-based rescue NFR Maine in the US in March.

What stood out for Mr Abbott was that Emerson was also deaf.

"Right off the bat he said, 'I'm deaf also and I feel like we'd have a good connection,’” Lindsay Powers of NFR Maine told Good Morning America about the moment Mr Abbott got in touch.

Now the pair have found fame on social media after starting up an Instagram account this week.

“Nick and Emerson – two deaf boys and their adventures,” the page’s caption reads.

The page has since gained thousands of followers in just 24 hours and features charming photos of the pair together.

“Such a wonderful story! Can’t wait to see both of your journeys together,” one person wrote.

Emerson had been pulled from a shelter in Florida at just six-weeks-old after suffering from a spate of seizures.

"He had such a rough start to life and he ended up with an absolute fairy tale ending," Ms Powers said.

According to Mr Abbott’s mother, Richelle, the pair hit if off immediately and says they’re “meant for each other”.

Their relationship began to blossom and got to the point where Mr Abbott was able to teach Emerson sign language to sit, lay down and come.

"It's amazing... whenever they're together, Emerson is always finding a way to lean on Nick,’ Ms Abbott said.

Earlier this year, a blind dog shot to fame after getting its very own guide dog.
