Dead Vic tradie's mother speaks of anguish

The mother of a tradie hit and killed by a drug driver while being sick on the side of a Melbourne freeway says she will be "broken till the day I die".

Tara Brennan, 29, has pleaded guilty to culpable driving causing death and possessing a drug of dependence after hitting and killing 31-year-old Alan Dunlop as he crouched beside his cousin's car stopped in an emergency lane of the Western Ring Road in May 2016.

In Victoria's County Court on Tuesday, Mr Dunlop's mother, Karen, cried as she told Judge Duncan Allen "I will always be broken till the day I die".
