Dead toddler dropped off at Queensland hospital, sparking police investigation
Police have launched a criminal investigation after a two-year-old girl was dumped at a Queensland hospital after she had already died.
The little girl, from North Mackay, was taken to Mackay Base Hospital on Thursday night at around 8.30pm.
“An autopsy will be conducted to establish the cause of death,” police said in a statement to media on Friday, referring to the incident as a “sudden death.”
Detectives from the Mackay Child Protection Investigation Unit are on the case.
While investigations are ongoing, police say there is no further information available at this time.

Officers are urging anyone with information into the little girl’s death to come forward by contacting Crime Stoppers on 1800 333 000.
