The family of NSW man Ricky Eggins have watched online as their son's accused killer formally denied murder.
Mr Eggins, 20, was fatally stabbed in the chest after an altercation at a home in Orange in March 2019.
"Not guilty, Your Honour," Darryle Tailford told the NSW Supreme Court on Friday.
The 27-year-old's trial is due to begin in Orange on March 1 - almost two years to the day of the alleged murder.
Four members of Mr Eggins' family seated in a home appeared in the courtroom via video conference to witness Tailford's plea.
The court was told his grandmother also dialled in to hear proceedings.
