Dead body washes up on Sydney beach

The body was found by surfers at 6am on Thursday.

The body of a man was found in the water at a popular Sydney beach on Thursday morning.

The discovery was made by a surfer at around 6am at North Cronulla in Sydney's south, NSW Police confirmed.

Council lifeguards were alerted and police and paramedics arrived at the scene, it's been reported.

It's believed the cause of death was self-harm, police told Yahoo News Australia.
