DeAndre Hopkins declares himself the top receiver in football: 'I know I'm the best'
If you ask Arizona Cardinals wide receiver DeAndre Hopkins to name the best receiver in football, you shouldn’t be surprised at his response. Hopkins ended whatever speculation about that existed Thursday, declaring himself as the best receiver in the game.
The 27-year-old Hopkins said so while appearing on the Jalen & Jacoby show.

Hopkins mentions both Michael Thomas and Julio Jones in his answer. Hopkins — who is close with both Jones and Thomas — said his numbers would be even better if he got to play with Drew Brees or Matt Ryan his entire career. Hopkins adds, “Those guys are blessed to be in a position where, their whole career, they had a Pro Bowl quarterback.”
While fans are free to argue for any of those players, it’s tough to deny Hopkins has dealt with a lot of terrible quarterbacking over his career. Before getting hooked up with Deshaun Watson, Hopkins caught passes from the likes of Ryan Mallett, Brock Osweiler, Tom Savage, Brandon Weeden and T.J. Yates, among others. Despite that, Hopkins has put up Pro Bowl numbers nearly every season.
Things have been pretty good for Hopkins lately, though. Since Watson entered the league, Hopkins has made the All-Pro team every season. While Hopkins won’t play with Watson in 2020, he does get to play with Kyler Murray, a budding quarterback talent in his own right.
If Murray continues to build on a promising rookie season, it’s tough to imagine Hopkins’ All-Pro streak ending any time soon.
