A risqué bikini has quickly become a best-seller after joining the parade of swimsuits following the trend that less is more.

Featuring a tiny bottom and draped back top, the look’s most notable asset is perhaps its string bikini pant.

The Slash swimsuit was created by Australian designer Karen Hurley, who tells Yahoo Lifestyle it’s geared towards younger women who are typically more inclined to bare all.

Daring to bare

“Confident women who like to wear something a bit different and make a statement,” she says in reference to her brand’s customer base.

“It’s usually girls in their 20s or 30s who buy my more daring pieces.”

Karen, who’s based in Sydney, went on to explain the reasons behind this year’s increasingly-daring bikini trends and why Slash is by far her best seller.

“There is a real shift to glamour photography and styling on Instagram. Glamour photography seems to be driving sales in the industry,” she says.

“The slash bikini is our most daring piece and the most popular.”

But despite the seemingly never-ending stream of risqué ensembles, Karen suspects the pendulum may soon swing in the opposite direction.

“I think it will go back to more vintage or traditional styling in the next couple of seasons,” she says.
