EastEnders fans are waiting with anticipation for Danny Dyer's exit from the BBC soap later this year and the star reckons he might even be killed off by producers.

The 44-year-old actor told The Sun that his pub landlord character Mick Carter will leave the show in a way that is "gonna be huge", whether or not that involves a blockbuster death.

He said: "There’s been a discussion about what we’re gonna do. I might be killed off, I might not.

"I just want to go out in a huge, epic way. I don’t want to be in the back of a cab. I don’t want a heart attack because of high cholesterol. I want to go out and I want to get people talking about it."

Dyer said his exit storyline will air this year and could even form part of the show's always-dramatic Christmas schedule.

After nine years in Albert Square, Dyer is moving on to pastures new, including a game show for Netflix and a travel documentary with his daughter Dani Dyer.

"It’s time to move on now. I’ll be very sad. I will be. It’s an emotional thing, you become very attached. But it’s time to roll the dice," he said.

Dyer added: "Maybe [the storyline] will come out at Christmas. When they get it right there ain’t no better show on the television."

Mick Carter arrived in Walford back in 2013, arriving on Christmas Day as the new landlord of the Queen Vic.

He has since been involved in some of the show's most dramatic storylines, including being framed for attempted murder.
