Dad furious after finding live cockroach in Coles bread
A surprised Melbourne dad has demanded Coles to lift its quality control standards after he claims to have found a live cockroach in a bag of sliced bread.
Roger Cervetto said he was preparing sandwiches for his child’s lunch when he was shocked to find a creepy crawly inside the bread’s packaging.
Sharing a picture of a cockroach inside a bag of sliced bread, the man said the insect was still alive.
“Found a surprise in my new coles high-fibre sandwich loaf when just about to make sandwiches for kids lunch. A live cockroach 🥵,” he wrote on Facebook just after lunchtime on Monday.
“Will be heading back to Coles Essendon. Quality control and health standards need a review,” he added.
The supermarket’s customer care team has responded to the customer via Facebook private message, a Coles spokesperson told Yahoo News Australia.
They did not respond to a question about how a cockroach could have made its way into the bread loaf, but said quality control was a priority.
“Coles takes the quality of all our products seriously and has spoken to the customer to follow up their complaint,” the spokesperson said.
“As always we encourage customers to return any item they’re not 100 per cent happy with to their nearest store for a full refund or replacement.”
