Dad's heartbreaking post begging for teen son to 'pull through' after horrific car crash

The father of one of three teenage boys fighting for life after their car flipped at high-speed and crashed through a fence in the Gold Coast hinterland, has made a heartbreaking plea for him to pull through this.

David Toms remains by the bedside of his 14-year-old son, who was one of five people inside the car when it lost control on Beacon Road at Tamborine Mountain in the early hours of Wednesday morning.

The vehicle rolled before coming to a rest upside down against a fence at the local swimming pool.

Wreckage from the late model car and bits of a fence surrounding the bowling club littered the semi-rural street in Tamborine North.

Two 14-year-old boys, including Mr Toms’ son were trapped in the back seat of the car, which was left almost unrecognisable by the horrific crash.

They were eventually rescued and flown to the Queensland Children’s Hospital with head, chest and limb injuries.

Eight hours after the crash, Mr Toms took to Facebook to share a photo of his son in hospital with a caption “love you my son, you will pull through this”.

“He is out of surgery. He still has got his arm,” he wrote on Wednesday afternoon.

“They have got him in a coma.”

The 16-year-old driver was taken to Gold Coast University Hospital where he was induced into a coma with significant head injuries.

A 14-year-old passenger in the front seat and another boy sitting in the back suffered minor injuries and were taken to hospital as a precaution.

Police say speed was a factor and they continue to investigate the crash.

Police are still investigating the matter.
