A father has broken down sobbing after detailing the alleged abuse his young daughter was subject to at the hands of her Sydney swimming teacher.
The man, who cannot be named for legal reasons, was travelling on a bus to work in Sydney's CBD when he received a phone call from his wife telling him to come home immediately.
After walking home "as quick as I could" he was told by his partner that their daughter had just said she had been touched on the private parts in the pool during class.
Kyle Daniels, 22, has pleaded not guilty to 26 charges, including multiple counts of having sexual intercourse with a child under 10 and indecently assaulting a person under 16.
He is accused of touching nine of his students aged between five and 10 on or near their genitals while instructing them between February 2018 and February 2019 at a pool on Sydney's north shore.
"I said to her 'are you OK? ... you are brave for telling me'. I said I needed to call the police," he told the District Court on Thursday.
"She did say that the instructor had gone under her costume with his fingers and sometimes ... fingers went inside her," the man said while wiping away tears.
At this point the prosecutor paused while the man held his face as sobs could be heard and the judge called for a short break.
After some time he resumed his evidence and added: "she said when it first started ... she said it happened all the time".
"She said it happened every lesson."
The couple had shown their children a video explaining "private parts" and what was appropriate after seeing news reports that a Mosman swimming school teacher had been arrested.
That evening a discussion followed and their daughter acknowledged she understood her private parts were not to be touched by strangers or photographed by anyone.
But the following morning she told her mother what she said happened while other students were close by. Police were subsequently contacted.
Pre-recorded evidence from eight girls has been played over three weeks to the court.
One young girl on Thursday said she initially denied to her parents she had been molested by her swim teacher.
But after persistent questioning by her father, she said that during breaststroke the swimming teacher touched her below the hips.
She went on to tell him her swimming teacher put either his hands or fingers underneath her swimming costume.
The trial continues.
