Dad's savage words to paedophile who kidnapped and raped girl

A distraught dad has glared at the paedophile who kidnapped and repeatedly raped his 11-year-old daughter in NSW and called out "enjoy prison mate" as the predator was taken from court.

The girl's devastated parents were in Newcastle District Court on Wednesday to face Brett David Hill, 49, who grabbed their young daughter as she walked to school in mid-2018.

They made a point of remaining inside the courtroom after Hill's case had been adjourned to stare at him as he was being led out of the dock by security staff.

Hill bowed his head and refused to look at them as he was taken away.

The 49-year-old had earlier admitted abducting the terrified girl as she walked to school in Adamstown Heights in Newcastle in June 2018 before he repeatedly raped her at three separate locations during a five-hour ordeal.

Hill had been due to stand trial on Wednesday after initially denying a number of the girl's claims about what he did to her during the attack.

He'd previously pleaded guilty to one count of aggravated kidnapping, four counts of aggravated sexual assault and one count of possessing child abuse material, but denied a number of other charges.

Crown prosecutor Lee Carr SC told the court on Wednesday the trial was not proceeding after Hill agreed to plead guilty to three more charges of aggravated sexual assault of a child under 16.

Mr Carr said three other counts of aggravated indecent assault and one count of aggravated sexual assault would be withdrawn as a result of Hill's guilty pleas to a total of nine charges.

The prosecutor told the court the victim's parents wanted to thank the community for their assistance – especially staff at Westfield shopping centre at Kotara who spent days going through CCTV footage to find vision of Hill's car.

Judge Roy Ellis remanded the bearded Hill, dressed in prison greens, to appear in court again on December 17 for a sentence hearing.

Hill had been armed with a pair of scissors when he abducted the girl as she walked through Hudson Park at Adamstown Heights about 9.15am on June 12.

He spent the next five hours sexually and indecently assaulting the terrified girl before releasing her at Kotara railway station about 2.15pm. Hill was arrested four days later.

The charges of aggravated kidnapping and aggravated sexual assault each carry a maximum penalty of 20 years in jail.
