Detectives are appealing for witnesses after a young cyclist was killed in collision with a tipper lorry in west London on Wednesday.

The incident happened around 9.30am on Staines Road, Feltham, at the junction with Green Lane.

The name of the cyclist is not yet known. Police said he was in his twenties.

One report suggested the man was trapped under the lorry.

Scotland Yard said: “Police were called by the London Ambulance Service at 09:37hrs to reports of a collision involving a lorry and cyclist on Staines Road in Feltham.

“Emergency services attended and provided first aid. Despite their efforts the cyclist, who is believed to be aged in his 20s, died at the scene.”

Detectives are appealing for witnesses or anyone with dashcam footage to come forward.

Police have informed the man’s next of kin. His family will be supported by specialist officers.

The driver of the lorry stopped at the scene and is assisting police with their enquiries, the Met said. There has been no arrest.

Safety cordons and road closures were established.

A London Ambulance Service spokesperson told the Standard: “We were called at 9.34am this morning to reports of a road traffic collision in Staines Road, Feltham.

“We sent a number of resources to the scene including an ambulance crew, paramedics in fast response cars and an incident response officer. We also dispatched London’s Air Ambulance.

“The first paramedic arrived in less than five minutes. Sadly, despite the efforts of our crews, a person died at the scene.”

The incident is believed to be the fourth cyclist fatality in the capital this year.
