Chinese firefighters have saved a curious little girl whose head got stuck while peering through a hole in the floor created for a new pipe.
The incident took place in Puding county in the city of Anshun, in the Chinese province of Guizhou, on August 27.
The girl’s mother explained a hole was made in the floor for a pipe that had not been fitted yet, but she never expected her daughter to become so curious as to put her head through it.
The four-year-old child became trapped when she stuck her head through the hole on the building's first floor.
Her parents first tried to free her head with the use of vegetable oil, but their efforts were unsuccessful so they turned to the fire brigade.
Rescuers needed 40 minutes to free the girl, with one firefighter holding the girl’s legs to keep her in a vertical position as his colleague worked to free her head from the floor below, according to local media.
The girl was notably frightened after the incident, but otherwise unharmed.
Her parents said they became very worried when they were unable to remove their daughter's head from the hole, adding they regret leaving it uncovered while the maintenance work was ongoing.
The mother, whose name was not reported, said she had several sleepless nights replaying her young daughter's ordeal in her head.
