Cruise ship worker's cheeky act during departure after couple's late arrival

A cruise ship employee has rubbed major salt in the wound of a couple by waving goodbye with a massive fake hand after they royally missed the boat.

The couple were filmed on the dock at St Maarten, in the Carribean, as the Royal Caribbean Freedom of the Seas ship pulled away on August 6.

In footage shared to Facebook, people at a nearby viewing point yelled out “they’ve missed it” as the pair were shown being spoken to by a security worker.

The video then panned up to a cruise employee waving a giant fake hand with “bye” written on it.

It was not clear if they were waving at the dock, the couple or another ship docked in the port.

The footage was uploaded to Spanish cruise Facebook page Cruceros Puerto Rico, with the social media user explaining the passengers remained at St Maarten due to their lateness.

They then had to take a flight to the next destination of the boat, the post said.

The cruise company used the unlucky situation to remind travellers to be on time for their departure if they wanted to avoid being left behind.

After being uploaded, the video was shared more than 900 times and attracted comments from 800 people.
