A Melbourne man is accused of driving into three banks and the Crown Casino.

A man accused of speeding through Melbourne's CBD and crashing into the Crown Casino has briefly faced court.

Chen Jie Xu, 34, allegedly caused $50,000 worth of damage on June 13 when he drove into three buildings on Swanston Street including the ANZ and Commonwealth banks and a salon with his Honda 4WD.

Police allege the Burwood East man also struck the Westpac Bank on Collins Street before ending his rampage by crashing into glass doors at Crown Casino before stopping at the base of an escalator.

Xu, who has been in custody since the alleged rampage and dropped his bid for bail earlier this month, was on bail at the time of the alleged incident.

He has been charged with criminal damage, endangering life, dangerous driving and a weapons offence.

Xu appeared at Melbourne Magistrates Court on Monday, with his matter adjourned until September 14 for mention.
