WATCH: Terrifying moment huge crocodile steals fisherman's catch

A fisherman’s catch of the day has turned into a terrifying encounter with a crocodile in the Northern Territory.

Luke Robertson was fishing at Cahills Crossing in the Northern Territory, an area notorious for crocs, when he noticed something large looming under the surface.

Video of the incident on Facebook shows Mr Robertson’s wild encounter with the beast.

Mr Robertson stands on the crossing, just metres from the water, reeling in a fish.

But a crocodile suddenly appears following the fishing line.

As Mr Robertson prepares to bring the fish to surface the croc speeds up.

The beast comes right to the surface, grabs the fish within its jaws from the line and begins to chomp down its meal – much to the amusement and shock of onlookers.
