Crane collapses on Melbourne hospital as patients forced to flee

A crane has collapsed at a Melbourne hospital, crashing onto its roof and forcing dozens of people to evacuate.

Emergency services were called to Frankston Hospital in the city's southeast before 10am this morning after reports a crane at an adjacent construction site had fallen on top of the facility.

There are no reports of injuries, with 70 people, including patients, escorted out of the hospital.

Aerial vision from 7News shows the crane impacting a central section of the roof, causing significant damage.

The impacted section of the hospital is a mental health ward, the Herald Sun reported with aerial vision showing patients needing assistance as they leave the building.

Fire Rescue Victoria told Yahoo News Australia crews, who assisted the evacuation, remain on scene.

Ambulance Victoria and WorkSafe have also been notified.
