Couple's wedding photos lost after photographer's camera stolen

A Queensland couple’s dream wedding has been shattered after a camera containing thousands of irreplaceable photos was stolen during the reception.

A few camera phone snaps are now the only remaining record of the biggest day in the Dewberys’ lives on Saturday.

“I felt devastated, I cried a lot, it was horrible,” bride Sally-Ann Dewbery, from Bundaberg, said after discovering the professional photographs from her wedding day were gone.

“It took me from cloud nine to the bottom in 20 seconds.”

Friend and photographer Ashlee Meskin spent hours capturing special candid moments on Sally-Ann and groom Cameron’s special day.

The photographer then left her cameras and memory card inside her car while she attended the reception.

“The bride and groom said, ‘Put your camera down, it’s time for you to enjoy with us’,” Ms Meskin said.

But when she returned to her car it had been ransacked and robbed.

“All the photos of me getting ready, dressing my daughters, my sister doing up my dress – I don’t have a single photo of my bridesmaids,” Sally-Ann said.

Ms Mesken and the Dewberys have pleaded with the thieves to return the stolen property, even offering a reward.

“I just want their photos back so bad,” the photographer said.

“At the end of the day, the cameras are just ‘stuff’, but the photos are memories.”

A gofundme page has been started to help Ashlee recreate the special day.

“But it’s not the same,” Sally-Ann said. “It’s never going to be the same.”
