Couple shocked by $3 million TattsLotto win after forgetting about entry
A Victorian couple were in complete shock after discovering they were the mystery winners of Saturday’s $3 million TattsLotto jackpot.
The lucky couple, from Beaumaris, a south-east suburb of Melbourne, held one of the two division one winning entries nationally in TattsLotto draw 4207, drawn Saturday, November 13.
Each division one winning entry took home an impressive $3,001,122.85.
Speaking with an official from The Lott this morning, the winning woman explained they only checked their ticket after hearing news the winner was from their region.
“We are in total shock! We never in a million years thought this would happen,” the woman said.
“The ticket was just floating about in my bag, and I had totally forgotten about it. It wasn’t until my daughter told me that they were searching for a winner from Beaumaris that I even remembered I’d bought an entry,” she said.
The woman explained that her husband checked the TattsLotto numbers in the Sunday paper, but it wasn’t until her daughter scanned the ticket on The Lott app that they realised they’d won.
“We were absolutely hysterical! We experienced every emotion under the sun – shock, happiness, excitement. And we cried, screamed, cheered, and laughed!” she chuckled.
“It’s an absolute dream come true. It’s life-changing!" she screamed happily.
Lottery winner confesses: 'my mind is a blur'
The woman said: “My stomach is in knots and my mind is a blur.”
The excited woman said the couple celebrated over a bottle of champagne, while discussing how they planned to spend their windfall.
However, she did confess: “I didn’t sleep at all last night. I need a huge cup of coffee this morning because I am exhausted from the excitement.”
“I could burst into tears right now. It’s such a sweet win right before Christmas.”
The Victorian Lotto winner said that after mulling it over, they planned to spend their newfound fortune for years to come.
“We will help the family, of course,” she shared.
“It will mean we can retire from work early and really enjoy our retirement.”
The multi-millionaire shared that she always said she would donate to charity if she ever won the lottery, so that is exactly what she planned to do.
“We’ll save some too, so we can build a nest egg for the future,” the ecstatic woman concluded.
The winning numbers in TattsLotto draw 4207 were 26, 40, 17, 32, 22 and 29, while the supplementary numbers were 12 and 21.
So far in 2021, there have been 23 division one wins in Melbourne's south-east, worth more than $41.4 million.
The life-changing entry was purchased at Beaumaris News Lotto & Gifts, where the owner Elisa Luo said her team were thrilled to have helped make someone a multi-millionaire.
“We are so happy that we were able to help make all of our winners' dreams and wishes come true,” she said.
“Congratulations to our winner. We hope this win gives them the opportunity to realise their dreams."
