A man and woman have been arrested on suspicion of child neglect after three children were rescued from a flat fire by a "hero" neighbour.

Surrey Police said emergency services were called to a report of a large fire in Station Road, Redhill, on Thursday evening.

Det Insp Adam Ramiz said: "When our team arrived at the scene, three children had been rescued from the property by a neighbour who heroically entered the building to bring the children to safety."

He said there were no suspicious circumstances surrounding the fire and that it was "swiftly" put out.

Surrey Fire and Rescue Service has been contacted for more information.
