Country singer dies in accidental shooting on music video set

A country music singer has died after a gun in his pocket “went off” while he was filming a music video.

Justin Carter, 35, was filming in Houston, Texas when a bullet hit him in the corner of his eye on Saturday, his mum Cindy McClellen told Fox News.

“He was a wonderful person, very loving and he loved our God very much,” Ms McClellan told Fox News.

“He had a Bible in his room, in the den, he had one in his truck. He gave to charities.”

His death was also confirmed via his Instagram and Facebook pages.

“Please keep Justin’s family in your prayers and give them privacy in this hard time,” a post on his Instagram account reads.

His manager Mark Atherton told ABC 13 many viewed Carter as being “the next Garth Brooks”.

He leaves behind two young daughters named Dixie and Kaylee.
