The South Australian coroner is about to hand down findings into the death of an Adelaide nursing home resident who was bludgeoned by an elderly dementia patient.
Dorothy Mavis Baum was hit with a chain and was found in her bed with wounds to her arms and face so deep they revealed bone.
The 93-year-old died the next day.
Coroner Mark Johns has been investigating the circumstances of the woman's death including the action of a nurse who locked herself in an office during the violent incident in May 2012.
Mr Johns will hand down his findings on Thursday.
