Coronavirus: Woman 'pepper sprays man for not wearing mask' in dog park

A woman claims her husband was pepper-sprayed in a dog park for not wearing a face mask.

Ash O’Brien and her husband, Jarret, were visiting the Dusty Rhodes Dog Park in San Diego, in the US state of California, on Saturday (local time).

In California, it is a requirement to wear a mask that covers the nose and mouth when outside the home in a measure to stop the spread of coronavirus.

Ms O’Brien wrote on Facebook the couple were at the park with their pug and weren’t wearing masks because they were eating.

But this “random old lady... kept calling us idiots and flipping me off”, she wrote.

“Then she started saying more stuff and I told her to leave the park and stop harassing us,” Ms O’Brien said.

“She then came right up to our table where we were eating, pointed the mace at me first and got a little on me, and then my husband stepped in and took the entire can.”

Video shared by Ms O’Brien on Facebook shows her husband reeling from what appears to being pepper-sprayed.

Ms O’Brien says she is the person heard crying in the video.

“What are you doing?” another woman, who is filming, says.

“You cannot be serious. You just maced him.”

The woman who unleashed the alleged pepper-spraying attack then walks off towards her car.

Ms O’Brien told KGTV she had reported the woman to police and wanted her jailed.

In a later Facebook post, Ms O’Brien said: All we want from this is for her to get arrested so she can’t put any people or animals at risk.

“We are not looking for money or anything like that. We just want this woman in jail.”
