Westfield shopping centres reveal new drive-thru service
Westfield shopping centres have launched a new initiative that will prevent people wandering around stores amid the coronavirus pandemic.
The Scentre Group announced the new Westfield Direct service on Thursday, which is a drive-thru contactless click and collect convenience.
Shoppers can purchase products online in one transaction through a number of different retailers and pick it up from their closest drive-thru location.

The retail giant said in a statement that more than 350 stores and up to 8000 products were available through Westfield Direct, including Bakers Delight, Harris Farm, Donut King, Boost Juice, Aesop, Harry Hartog and L’Occitane.
Scentre Group customer experience director Phil McAveety said they understood the need for such a service due to the challenging times of the coronavirus.
“Westfield Direct is an innovation we’ve fast-tracked to provide customers a safe and easy solution to shop the items they need in one transaction, from the comfort of their home for pick-up via one, contactless shop,” he said.
“Whether that be home-schooling essentials for the family, winter basics as the weather changes, pantry items or dinner from multiple restaurants, we will continue to adapt Westfield Direct to meet our customers’ needs for the times we live in.
“For our retail partners who are still able to trade within government restrictions, Westfield Direct provides a new way for them to continue reaching their customers.”
People can place food, everyday essentials and lifestyle orders through Westfield Direct by visiting the Westfield website.
Once the order has been placed customers will be notified of the designated pick-up location.
