Coronavirus: Student, 20, found dead in her room after diagnosis
A student has been found dead in her university room where she was quarantining after testing positive for coronavirus.
Bethany Nesbitt, 20, was discovered at her halls at Grace College in the US state of Indiana on Friday (local time), a statement from the university said.
The coroner said she had an undetected blocked artery in her lungs and her diagnosis of Covid-19 had contributed to her death.
Her brother, sports journalist Stephen Nesbitt, shared a family statement on Twitter, adding their “hearts are shattered”.
After falling sick, she was cared for by her mother as she was asthmatic and later was diagnosed with the virus.
The family revealed doctors had told her she had contracted a mild cases of the virus after her oxygen levels had dropped.
She returned to her dorm to isolate and later told her family she was virus-free for 24 hours. She was tested on October 29, but the results were not immediately processed.
“That night, Bethany watched Netflix and went to bed. She was found deceased at 10am,” the statement said.

The family said Bethany knew it was a risk returning to university for this term, but she was committed to her education.
They urged younger generations to not assume they will not be impacted by the virus.
“Bethany was careful. She wore a mask. She socially distanced,” Bethany’s family said.
“This loss is forever. We plead with you to take this virus seriously.”
Bethany was the youngest of nine children and was due to graduate in May. She planned on becoming a child-life specialist for sick and disabled children.
