Man's bizarre excuse after being fined for hanging iron out car window

A driver has been pulled over by police after they were bizarrely found driving with an iron hanging out the passenger window.

The driver was found passing through Hengistbury Head, Dorset in England’s south last week.

Dorset Police joked on Facebook the driver was operating a mobile ironing service.

“You stand outside and they drive past and iron anything for you,” the Facebook post read.

Is it a drive-by laundry service? A car was spotted driving with an iron sticking out the window.

“On first view we thought these were legs hanging out the window, when we stopped to ask why they were hanging an iron out the window – they were cooling it down!”

“Word of advice: to keep the iron in the car or wait until it’s cooled down before driving.”

It’s not clear how much the driver was fined. On Facebook, people responded with their own jokes, saying the driver really needed “straightening out”.

“Ironing out further offences. I expect the guilty were steaming,” one man wrote.
