Nearly $20m worth of drugs imprinted with Russian President Vladimir Putin’s face were found in the door cavities of a car attempting to cross the NSW border into Victoria.

A man allegedly hid $18m worth of prohibited drugs in the door cavities of his car while attempting to cross the border, with officers stopping a Toyota Corolla heading towards Gundagai on the Hume Highway about 9.40am on Tuesday.

Police found 25kg of methylamphetamine and 10kg of cocaine bricks inside the door cavities during a search of the car with an estimated worth of about $18m.

Photos taken by police show Russian President Vladimir Putin’s face on the cocaine bricks.

Police will allege the man was attempting to transport the drugs from Sydney to Melbourne.

The 26-year-old Corolla driver was arrested and taken to Gundagai Police Station.

He was charged with two counts of supply prohibited drug, large commercial quantity and possess DECCD to commit serious criminal activity.

He was refused bail and is set to front the Young Local Court on Wednesday.
