Cop’s son allegedly murdered in CBD

The 23-year-old man allegedly murdered during a late night stabbing has been identified as the son of a South Australian Police officer.

Lewis Parkin died after he was allegedly stabbed on Hindley St in the Adelaide CBD shortly before 8pm on Friday.

Emergency services had been called following reports a stabbing had allegedly occurred inside the West End Motel and Backpackers.

Mr Parkin was taken to hospital with life threatening injuries but died a short time later.

The son of a serving SA Police officer is being remembered as a “very upbeat” person, according to The Advertiser.

SA Police confirmed a 42-year-old man from St Marys was charged Mr Parkin’s murder.

It will be alleged he left the area following the stabbing but was arrested a short time later near the River Torrens.

Police confirmed officers believe the two men were known to each other and the stabbing isn’t being considered as a random incident.

The man was refused bail will appear in the Adelaide Magistrates Court on Monday.

The investigation is ongoing.
