Four police cars have been smashed and a North Melbourne property trashed during an out of control party attended by up to 50 youths.
Police were called to the Shands Lane property about 2am on Sunday and as the crowd was being moved on, objects including firewood and bins were thrown over a fence on to the vehicles in a nearby laneway.
"It's outrageous, it's criminal behaviour and it's not something we tolerate," Senior Sergeant Adam Turner told reporters.
The property is rented through several online platforms and police are now trying to find out which website it was leased through to identify who paid for the property.
Plaster walls in the home were either punched or kicked and items including a television and microwave were stolen, Sen Sgt Turner said.
No officers were injured and no arrests have yet been made.
